Awesome library
Literally one of the worst places I have ever been in my life. A passive-aggressive staff is a mere symptom of an organization hell bent on racing as swiftly as possible towards obsolescence by refusing to join the 21st century. Key failures include a cramped collection eternally in transit from one end of the library to the other, an almost complete abrogation of the library's mission to host community events and groups, an outright and insulting lack of any reference services, a total disregard for modern checkout technology and computer hardware that doesn't die every 5 minutes (self checkout machines - Oooo, the wonders of 15 years ago), and a demonstrated, wholesale inability at maintaining a website that looks like it doesn't date from the dawn of the internet.
The library has always been a great place. Constantly re-inventing itself with the times. The children's programs are great. They have a great DVD collection as well.
I have lived in Kennebunk for 17 years and have always felt that our library is one of the gems in the town. It has provided ample opportunities for my children when they were young, as well as given them a place to go and find quality, up to date materials. The teen section is full of the latest, sought after titles. As far as for adults, I love to go to our library. The fireplace room is relaxing and quiet, while other places in the library offer seating for groups. The library hosts community events on a weekly basis and is always looking for feedback and ideas. When you visit Kennebunk, please come and see what a charming and beautiful library that we are lucky to have.
